Microsoft Word Review: The Best Document Editor After Google Doc Review
Microsoft Word is an app which allows you to create, save and edit documents on your mobile device.
You can download Microsoft Word for Windows, macOS, iOS and Android.
When you log in to MW, you see the recent docs that you used. Also on the bottom of the main screen, you can see shared with your documents, but you have to sign into the Microsoft account. There's almost no point to use it without signing in because you won't be able to use a lot of features if you don't. Then you can open a file from your storage or from any cloud you'll let it to, even from Google Drive.
Clean and minimalistic design, nice slick font. Everything is blue and white although it would be nice to have other themes especially night view. Few but important icons are on the main screen.
The app works rather slow even on iPhone. If you're not logged in your Microsoft account, you can view documents only. You can view them as you would on PC or choose Mobile View in the Settings on the top right of the screen with three dots. When you scroll down your doc, you can see a page number and word count. We couldn't figure out how to check how many characters the doc has so you might have to buy a full 365 Office Pack for this.
You have a lot of options of a type of a doc you want to create which is a bit redundant in our opinion - you have here several types of a resume, of a letter and of a paper, there's even a recipe which you could create with just a blank document.
When you try to open a file from the Internet, your iPhone will suggest to use MW by default.
Cross-platform use 5/5
In this Microsoft Word review, we’ll talk about its version for Apple products. It works well on any Apple product - iPad, iPhone, iMac and even iPod Touch but it requires iOS 11.0 or later. It has no glitches and performs without glitches. In order to synchronize with all of your devices, you have to log in with your Microsoft account each time, which is kind of annoying.
The app suggests you to buy Microsoft's Office 365 (prices from 5.99$ up to 99.99$) which is a full pack of Microsoft's products for work with your documents. You got there Excel for your accounting, PowerPoint for your presentations, Outlook for your email and other tools which make your life and work easier and more managed. But not only that, if you can find somewhere Excel for example for Apple, it won’t have the same features that are in a paid 365 pack.
The Bottom Line
The reason #1 why you should download Microsoft Word is to make your documents created on Apple products more compatible for Windows users. Jobs were lost, and lives were ruined because somebody sent the file made on iOS and the person with Windows couldn’t open it, hence, the drama.
Microsoft Word is definitely worth having on your iPhone. We know that you might think it's uncool and maybe it is and Google Docs are totally better but MW is necessary.
Pros : A lot of useful features;
Simple and clean design;
Compatible with other devices which aren't Apple's.
Cons : All the coolest features are in paid pack;
Not intuitive usability.
Cross-platform use 5.0
Average : 3.5
Can I use the Microsoft Word app to work with my documents offline?
Yes, but not all the features will be available. You can create, open, and save your files.
How to share a document using the Microsoft Word app?
Do that simply by saving the document to the cloud and inviting other users to view or edit it. Or save it to the cloud and send a link to the document. You can also send a copy of your document as an email attachment.
How to delete a Word file on my Android device?
Tap Open and choose the service in which you saved the file. Find the file you need to remove and tap More > Delete.
